Frequently Asked Questions:

General:

Can I make money with this website?
Yes! This site was created to help service providers and homeowners conduct seamless transactions.

How do I change or update my registration information?
You may update your registration information in "Manage Your Account". Once there select "Edit Info".

How does this work?
  • Homeowners and Service Buyers post a project, then qualified members of the community bid on the completed project. Once you find the right Service Provider with the appropriate skill set for the project, and you both agree upon a price, you choose the winning bidder and the project begins.
  • Once a new Service Provider signs up, they can begin browsing projects in various categories and place bids on projects which are of interest to them.

  • What is "Manage Account?"
Your " Manage Account" page gives you access to all of your activities in one place and allows you to manage your account. You can edit your personal user information, view your Buying Activities (If Registered as a Buyer), manage your Selling Activities (If registered as Service Provider), or see all transactions that you have conducted here on the website.

What am I looking at here?
Members can post a project for FREE and have highly qualified community "Service Providers" competitively bid on projects. We offer Members several different categories to post their projects in. Our Service Providers offer a variety of skills and expertise and would most likely be the type of people to work on your project if you were to hire an outside business to do the work. We offer all members NO overhead, NO advertising costs, and NO up front fees whatsoever. Best of all our Service Providers come to you! We take the hassle out of searching through phone books, placing ads, and looking through newspapers just to find the right person to complete your project.

    Buying Services:

Do I have to add money to my account? .
Not right away, but eventually you will probably have to when paying a Service Provider the agreed upon fees or if the Service Provider requests that the project fees are placed into Escrow for "Safe Keeping".

Do I have to pay for services using escrow?
No. You can pay members directly but for the sake of safety and convenience you should use our escro payment system.

How do I communicate with a Service Provider?
You may post messages on the message private boards. If you post a private message, only the Service Provider it is addressed to will be able to see it. That Service Provider will also be notified by e-mail that you posted a message to him.

How do I buy services? .
If you are new click the sign up link at the top left of any page and you will be guided through the registration process.

    How does it work?
After signing up, you may "Create A Project" and provide all the details of the service you want. Service Providers will then be able to view your project and bid on it. This is similar to an auction, with an expiry date whereby you communicate with the Service Provider and negotiate terms on a private message board.
Once negotiated, you choose the winning bidder yourself. The chosen Service Provider will then have the option of accepting your agreed upon terms or declining them within a specified time frame.
If he/she doesn't not respond within the specified time frame (usually 24 hrs) the you then have the option of extending your project. If the Service Provider responds within the said time frame, he/she will then begin to work on your project.

    How much does this cost?
Absolutely nothing - for access to our basic services!

Payments, safe transfer, and commission fees may apply to your account depending on how you use the services.

How does "Safe Transfer" Escrow work?
We provide all members with safe transfer payment options to help projects get completed smoothly.
Members can set aside a specific amount of money into a "safe transfer" Escrow account for a specific Service Provider. Both the Service Buyer and the Service Provider can then view the payment sitting in the safe transfer account, but only the Buyer can complete the payment to the Service Provider.
The Service Provider is the only person (other than the site admin) who can cancel this payment. This process gives each party half of the control over the money held in safe transfer. Once the project gets completed, the Service Buyer can then transfer the funds from the safe transfer account to the Service Provider. If the project is canceled amicably, the Service Provider can then cancel the transfer of funds which will then return to the Service Buyers account. If there are any disputes over a project, the first thing to do is contact your site administrator. We encourage all members to send and receive money with the "safe transfer" escrow system to ensure project satisfaction amongst all parties.
To manage your funds that are held in safe transfer you must login to your account.

How does the feedback rating system work?
As a Member you should leave fair and honest feedback based on the quality and professionalism of the business transaction. Please keep in mind that feedback cannot be changed once posted. The following is a guide to Member feedback ratings:

    • 9-10 stars: Greatly exceeded expectations.
    • 7-8 stars: Exceeded expectations.
    • 5-6 stars: Met expectations.
    • 3-4 stars: Did not meet expectations.
    • 1-2 stars: Was far below expectations.
    • No stars: No prior feedback

In addition to leaving a feedback (star) rating, we encourages all Members to include specific comments with feedback whenever possible. In many cases, comments are a more powerful indication of the Members performance.

    Selling Your Services:

Can I just estimate how much I will charge for a project?
You should NEVER make any estimates. The information provided should be enough to decide how long it will take you to finish the project. If there is not enough info in the Project Description don't be afraid to make use of the message board to ask additional questions to the Client before placing your bid.

Remember, by placing a bid you enter into a legally binding contract. If you abuse this system you risk receiving poor reviews by others, infuriating your community members and possibly being banned from this website.

How do I cancel a bid that I placed on a project?
Log in to your account management area, select the project, and click on the "retract bid" link.

How do I communicate with a Service Provider?
You may post messages on the message boards. If you post a private message, only the Service Provider it is addressed to will be able to see it. That Service Provider will also be notified by e-mail that you posted a message for them.

How do I place a bid on a project?
Click on the "Place Bid" link which you can find on each project page just at the bottom left of the page.

How do I sell services my services?
If you are new click the signup link at the top left of any page and you will be guided through the registration process.

How do I update a bid I already placed on a project??
Just submit a new bid and your old one will automatically be removed.

    How much does this cost?
If your business is making money with this system, you will be charged a small percentage of the amount of your winning bid.

What if I have a question about a project?
At the bottom of each project (just above the bids) there is a hyperlink (View Project Message Board ) which will take you to the projects message board. You can then either post a public question or a private question directly to the Client. He/She in turn will receive an email notifying him that you are requesting a response.

What is meant by "Your bid for the total project"?
This is the amount that you will charge the project creator if you are chosen. It's is the TOTAL fee that you will charge for the "entire" project. It is NOT an hourly fee but rather a sum total that you have calculated based on probable hours that it may take you to complete the project.

    When do you charge fees?
As soon as you have elected to accept a project as the Service Provider for a project you have bid on. The project will then be closed and archived.

Why can't I find the "Place Bid" link on some project pages?
If the project is closed the link will not show up, because the Client has selected a winning bidder and the project is closed. The "Place Bid" link will also not show up if a project is frozen, which means bidding has temporarily been stopped by the Client.
